I sat in front of my computer for a while, trying to decide how to start this post. I’ll start with the fact that I know God intends His children to cultivate and utilize the various gifts He provides. As long as it is according to His plan for each individual. A quote I saw today read the following: “Your talent is God’s gift to you. What you do with it is your gift back to God.” I believe I do have a few specific talents Heavenly Father has given me, but I will focus on two: writing and performing. Let’s start with writing…
I got a negative review today on one of my books, and I’ll admit it got me down for a couple of hours. But then I remembered something my dad told me the other day. He said that we need to get to a point where we don’t give in to the anxiety that may come as we complete project after project, trying to please everyone and making the next piece better than the last. He said that we need to remember the good that comes from using our talents. For me, I thought about how happy writing makes me! Whether it be a blog post, a short story, my novels… Just the joy and fulfillment I get is worth continuing! Not only that, but there is NO WAY someone can EVER please everyone! I have been writing all my life, but actually finishing books and putting them out into the world is relatively new to me.
I know I am an amateur novelist, but I have already inspired so many people out there! Many have reached out to me and expressed the example I am to them. I think it would be a disservice to God and myself to discontinue writing. I can honestly say that I am excited to keep improving and continue to put my work out there for the rest of my life!
All of those things apply to how I feel on stage. I am an experienced entertainer, trained in a few different vocal stylings, have done a lot of acting, and even have some dancing under my belt. Sometimes the feelings I get from expressing myself on stage and in front of an audience can’t compare to anything else! I love to touch people’s hearts and make them feel things! It is one of the most rewarding moments to have an audience appreciate what you give them after becoming vulnerable in a performance and putting yourself out there.
I believe Heavenly Father intends to provide a light to this world that only I can by delivering wholesome entertainment with my writing and performing. I especially want to show other women that they can be loving wives and mothers and follow their dreams.
It’s hard to allow yourself to be vulnerable with the world, but without people willing to do so, life would be a dull, colorless existence. I’ll conclude with another quote: “Reveal to me my gifts and give me the boldness to use them.”
I love you guys!
